Cycling

Histon Road is now closed southbound except for cyclists - this is the rather messy arrangement at the southern end.

I think this means that pedestrians and cyclists are sharing the same space for about ten metres - but it shouldn't be necessary to dismount.

Cyclists Please Obey Traffic Signals - motor vehicles are still turning across Histon Road

Histon Road is now closed southbound - most (but not all) of the No Entry signs have Except Cycle signs in place.

Histon Road is now closed southbound, except for cycles (although there is actually access for construction vehicles to Darwin Green to the right) - unfortunately there's no dropped kerb to reach it.

Route sign and road closure (except cycles) notice

Trees have been cleared to build steps from Orchard Park to the A14 interchange at last - but no ramp, as far as I can see.

Start of reasonably wide shared-use path tot he A14 interchange - but there's plenty of space to make it all wide enough.

Route sign and start of narrow shared-use path

Would it be useful to build a short link to the dead-end road on the north side of The Green?

Road closure and link to shared-use path

Private road, clearly used by local dog-walkers - no use to cyclists, but one day it could link to the Cottenham road.

Somehow most of the width of this road has been privatised with just a narrow footpath left.

Lots of space for motor vehicles to turn at the new Histon and Impington Park Primary School - but plenty of covered cycle parking too.

Während der Corona Krise fahren wenig Autos. Fahrradfahrer radeln auf der Straße, es entstehen breite Flanier-Gehwege und eine Fahrradstraße. Leider hält der Effekt nur wenige Wochen an.
